Comrade Chen Yuandao:
Chen Yuandao, also known as Yuandao (1902-1933), was born into an ordinary peasant family in Qinggang Township, Chaoxian (now Langanji Town, Chaohu City), Anhui Province. He studied in a private school in his childhood. During the May Fourth Movement, he actively participated in student movements. He once wrote, "The body can be killed, but the patriotic blood cannot be extinguished; the head can be severed, but the pain of saving the country cannot be eliminated!" which showed his strong patriotism. In 1919, influenced by progressive figures such as Yun Daiying and Xiao Chunu, he read a large number of progressive publications like "New Youth" and "Guide," participated in the Wuhu Marxist Research Society, founded a workers' night school, initiated and organized the Wuhu workers' general strike, and joined the Communist Party of China the same year. On April 8, 1931, Chen Yuandao and his wife were unfortunately arrested during revolutionary activities and imprisoned in Caolanzi Prison. In prison, he fought heroically and unyieldingly against the enemy, established a secret party branch in prison, and was elected the first secretary of the secret party branch. He made great contributions to uniting and preserving the party's strength and purifying the party organization. In 1933, due to betrayal by traitors, Chen Yuandao was imprisoned again. Facing the enemy's torture and temptation, he glared fiercely and remained steadfast and unyielding, always maintaining the noble integrity of a Communist. In April of the same year, he was heroically martyred at Yuhuatai in Nanjing at the age of 31.
Comrade Chen Yuandao's Patriotic Spirit:
Comrade Chen Yuandao's life was full of hardships and twists and turns, enduring great suffering, yet he always firmly believed in communism. He always held himself to the standards of a Communist Party member, steadfastly guarding the spiritual home of the Party. At all times, he had unwavering faith and loyalty to the Party, remaining true to his original aspiration despite hardships and retaining his true nature despite trials.
