Huizhou culture and traditional intangible cultural heritage resources

Recently, accompanied by former leaders of Huangshan City and related experts, Dr. Chen Yong, President of the Beijing Enterprise Investment Association and Chairman of Beijing United Wisdom Group, specially arranged ample time to lead personnel from Beijing United Wisdom Group's Huangshan Dual Research Base and Huangshan Jingtian Cultural Group to conduct in-depth special research and investigations on Huizhou culture and traditional intangible cultural heritage resources in various districts and counties. Mr. Yang Zhen, Honorary Vice Chairman of the China Four Treasures of the Study Association, member of the China Calligraphers Association, authority on Huimo and She Inkstone, and former Vice Chairman of the Huangshan Municipal CPPCC, carefully arranged the activities. Former city leaders such as Mr. Bao Xiaoru, former Deputy Director of the Municipal People's Congress, member of the Municipal Party Committee, and Executive Vice Mayor, along with related personnel, enthusiastically participated in multiple research and exchange activities.

In the historic cultural city of She County, the research team successively visited Cheng Lihui and Fang Xuebin, who have been honored as National First-Class Carvers, Masters of Chinese Traditional Arts and Crafts, Masters of Arts and Crafts of Anhui Province, and Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritors. They viewed numerous inkstone carving works and listened to introductions about the pieces.
 

At the Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory in She County, Anhui Province, a time-honored Chinese brand, a national industrial heritage site, one of the first national intangible cultural heritage skill inheritance and protection units, the research team thoroughly inspected various workshops and examined the entire factory production process of Huimo ink.

In Tunxi District, they visited Zheng Han, a "Chinese Arts and Crafts Master and National Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritor," who is one of only two recipients of the highest inkstone carving honor in Huangshan City.

At the Tunxi Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory, accompanied by Mr. Wang Peikun, National Senior Arts and Crafts Master, Chinese Ink Art Master, Provincial Arts and Crafts Master, Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Huimo Ink Production Skill Inheritor, and Chairman, as well as Factory Director Cheng Guosheng (disciple of Wang Peikun and Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Huimo Inheritor), the research team carefully examined and deeply exchanged views on the rich Huimo ink collections and corresponding historical and cultural footprints in the "Huangshan Huimo Study Museum." Wang Peikun also accompanied the team to visit his private "Ancient Inkstone Museum," providing detailed introductions to the She Inkstone and Huimo treasures he has collected and meticulously crafted over many years, including works that have won the highest international and domestic awards.

Huizhou culture is an important part of the excellent traditional Chinese culture. The Four Treasures of the Study are a significant component of Huizhou culture. Ancient Huizhou is the main production area of the two treasures, She Inkstone and Huimo ink, with a long history and worldwide fame. For centuries, it has been favored by scholars and literati and is one of the "windows" for the world to understand Chinese civilization. Viewing each uniquely characteristic, exquisitely crafted, irreplaceable, and breathtaking art masterpiece, and listening to the masters' descriptions of the creative process and interpretation of artistic conception, one can deeply feel the profoundness of Chinese culture.

Multiple investigations have received high attention from leaders at all levels and strong support from all sectors, achieving great success and significant benefits. Chairman Chen Yong previously conducted concentrated research on Huangshan tea gardens, tea farms, tea enterprises, and tea products, which was also personally arranged and accompanied on-site by leaders such as Yang Liwei, former Chairman of the Huangshan Municipal CPPCC and former President of the Huangshan Tea Industry Economic Promotion Association. Together with Secretary Wang Feng of Huangshan University and former Vice Chairman Zhang Junjie of the Municipal CPPCC, who were also invited, they engaged in multiple in-depth exchanges on tea culture and tea economic development, reaching many consensuses and receiving full recognition. Whether it is inkstones, ink, or tea, these fine products from Huangshan encapsulate and reflect the profound heritage of millennia-old Huizhou culture on the land, worthy of in-depth exploration and vigorous promotion.
